Title: Trouble updating Avast
Post by: southpawsr on January 21, 2005, 03:45:18 PM
For the last few days, when I log on to the internet via modem, I receive a red box stating avast had trouble updating antivirus. When I click for more information, the next box states its up to date. When I manually go to the Avast website to update, I am up to date. Anyone know the problem might be. I have Windows ME. Have not downloaded any programs lately. Have not added any hardware either.
thanks

Sorry, without a little more information on 'what the trouble was' it is difficult to say. However, it would appear that it overcame the trouble. Is there anything in the Avast Log to indicate the trouble?

The latest iAVS update is 0503-1 on 20/1/05 is that the same as yours (right click avast icon and select 'About avast!...')?

Isn't your firewall blocking avast.setup to connect and update?
Can you disable it? If this not work, can you uninstall it and see what you get?

Do you use a proxy filter?
