Title: Auto Program Update
Post by: jimb11 on September 24, 2012, 08:31:01 PM
Avast updated from 7.0.1426 to 7.0.1466 automatically without me even touching it. I have it set to update manually so why would this happen?

Iv not heard of that ever happening before, are you sure program updates were set to manual? did you accidently click on program update instead of engine and definition updates?

I haven't heard of it before either, the default action is Ask and displays a toaster style popup notifying you of a Program update. But if you let it fade away or manually close it nothing happens. If however you click in the toaster popup it would proceed with the program update.

So I don't know if it is possible that you accidentally clicked on it or if the popup had focus and you happened to use the enter key that could possibly trigger it.

But it certainly isn't normal/usual for it to do this and even less so if you had it set to Manual before the update. Why had you set it to Manual ?

No, the only thing I did on friday was a i.e. windows update. Then today on monday when I turned the computer on I saw that avast was updated to 7.0.1466. I double checked the settings and it still was set to update manually.
