Title: all my exe were deleted by avast

coming back from holidays, I switched on my computer (still running windows XP).
I saw a message from Avast saying it had detected some files that can be potentially dangerous for my computer and ask me if I wanted to remove it.

I use avast since a few years and always answer yes to this type of question.

So I said yes but was very surprised a few minutes later to read a message saying I had to insert a disc to repair Windows....
I canceled this "repair" and then I switch off my computer.

It seems that I have lost all my exe !!!

Outlook, Excel, word,... and AVAST didn't start anymore.

Was it avast the av or the browser cleanup util that told you about the files?

Try a computer system restore , provided you have restore points before the .exe were deleted .
