Title: Obsolete Version on Downloads Page
Post by: fssbob2 on May 22, 2018, 07:35:28 PM
In conjunction with trying to fix a problem, I uninstalled/reinstalled Avast Mac. When I did the reinstall, initially I downloaded it from https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software. That turned out to be version 12.9, which is very old. Shortly after the install it auto-updated to version 13.3, which is obsolete as well.

I then installed the version at https://www.avast.com/en-us/mac, which was up-to-date. So I'm good--but you might want to do something about updating the version at https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software.

Thanks.

Confirm this too....if you download the offline installer that version is 12, after update he goes to 13.3 and after another update ->13.8

yes, you are right. It's the old version of AV. And offline installer. We kept it on the download page because we stopped producing the offline installer from 13.0. The whole download page is quite obsolete and requires an update. It's an orphaned page that shouldn't be linked. The only way is to find it via an search.

Nope. I got there from https://support.avast.com/en-us. On that page there's a link for "Download our products". And then you're there.

oops, then we need to resolve it asap. It's not only confusing but also user unfriendly as well.

Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you for the report! Issue has been resolved - https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software

We left the OLD installer at the page as well. It should help our friends with older macOS version when they need to reinstall the AV. To explain why in more details - with release of version 13.0 you cannot install the AV on macOS Maverick or older. However users are receiving new virus updates but their AV cannot update to newer version. They will stay with 12.9 forever. You are still protected!
