Title: Microsoft Outlook doesn't connect if Avast is enabled
Post by: Murugan N on April 08, 2019, 07:42:28 AM
Hi Team,

I have installed avast and purchased Internet security licence

OS - Windows 10
Avast Version - 19.3.2369 (build 19.3.4241.445)
Virus Definition 190407-6

My company uses VPN for emails, VPN Client is Citrix - NetScaler Gateway

I have included Outlook.exe and the Vpn client location as well as the file in the exceptions

Still it doesnt work, IT WORKS ONLY IF I COMPLETELY DISABLE AVAST

Pls help me configure Avast settings and whitelist the necessary files

Thanks

Is your avast firewall network profile in puplic or private mode?

Try private and reboot?

Setting up Firewall Application Rules in Avast Antivirus
https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Antivirus-Firewall-Application-Rules

=================================================================

NOTE:The Network profiles control the settings which determine how strictly Firewall protects your PC.

Private: a lower level of security suitable for when your PC is connected to a trusted network such as your home or work network.
This profile enables better connectivity, and permits all communication within the network.

Public: a higher level of security suitable for when your PC is connected to a public network such as in a cafe or airport.
Because public networks present greater security risks, no incoming communication is permitted when this profile is set.

No Luck, tried configuring firewall settings in Avast, Also tried disabling the firewall still doesnt connect.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Yes, tried "REPAIR APP".

Disabled Firewall - No Changes and still the outlook shows disconnected

Disabled Avast agent - Works perfectly fine

Win10 - Version 1803 - OS Build - 17134.648
No Other security software installed - Again reiterating, Outlook works completely fine if Avast is disabled, I use Citrix VPN to connect to my work email
I have not used any other AV before
