Did a search and could not find an answer.
I am running Avast on both my desktop (Vista) and my Laptop (W2K).
I got green pop up windows on both stating that there were newer version available on the web and that I could click the box to get the newer version.
I did this on my laptop and it went through the install and rebooted and everything is working great.
On my Vista desktop however, I clicked on the box and nothing happened. The cursor changed to make it look like it was trying but ultimately did not do anything. This box constantly pops up once a day and it will not allow me to install the newer version. It also does not return an error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

This is I believe down to the good old UAC and permissions and one of the updates included in version 4.7.1043 is a fix for that, ironic ;D
You can however, do a manual program update, right click the avast 'a' icon, Updating, Program Update and that should work.

Yeah I'm an idiot. It didn't come up in my search but looking down about 10 posts from mine, someone had the exact problem. Sorry for bothering.

No bother.
Well it isn't obvious what the problem might be at first which makes a search a little more difficult. I trust everything is OK now and you have the latest version ?

Don't forget to upgrade... You can right click the 'a' blue icon and choose Update > Program...
