the adware whenu is included in lphant and maybe other malware too so if i were you i would think again before installing/using it.

First of all, this is the report of EMULE:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/http://www.emule.com/

......of KAZAA:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/http://www.kazaa.com/

ETC...

this is the linkgraph of publicitary adware in LPHANT, green are OK, red are adware:

(http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/lphant.com/linkgraph/linkgraph.png)

---they are links out of LPHANT site, lphant.com is claen and secure but the publicitary inserts not; problably the owner (webmaster) unknown.

I was using LPHANT years ago and it's the best of the best a totally thrustworthy program; here there is the vote of the users:

http://lphant.softonic.com/

7,8 is an high rating.

- Compatible with emule/edonkey
- Compatible with BitTorrent
- Compatible with Kad (kademlia)
- Easy to use and configure
- Fast and stable
- Available Multiplataforma Lphant(Windows, Linux, Mac and PDA)
- Command lines
- Webcache support
- A big variety of skins
- Multilanguage version
- Same file format than emule, you can change between lphant and emule and continue your downloads without problems
- Protocol obfuscation support to avoid ISP speed throttling

............and always you'll have an HIGH ID ;)

Thanks CharleyO!
POL

PS: I'm sorry but, if LPHANT will be not in the list I will go back to BitDefender (as usual as years ago) :)

Thanks but I'll stick with Trillian (http://mail.google.com/mail/?source=navclient-ff#inbox/11d231803de0d274). :)
I've been using it for years and know it's free, clean and reliable.

i understanded it that way that lphant included malware, i mean look at the downloads in the siteadvisor report. it is also blocked by hphosts hostsfile and i guess there is a reason.

why should avast give protection to lphant when lphant includes malware by itself? simply dont install lphant but it is your choice.

trillian? isnt that a chat program and not a filesharing program? i have it myself but maybe i have missed something  ;)

maybe i need to wash my glasses  ::)

Maybe  :)  Filesharing with your chat friends is one of the things you can use Trillian for.

Sorry everyone, I guess I should have looked more before posting.

Since lphant is linked to malware, it's not likely to be added to the accepted list.

~~~~~~
Pol,
From your own post ... "this is the linkgraph of publicitary adware in LPHANT, green are OK, red are adware:"
Tell me, what color is lphant.com in the graph you supplied?
  ;D siteadvisor is not trustworthy all the time either, it gives malicious sites a green rating, i have seen it before.
is it possible to multi quote on this forums?
Yes, I realize that Siteadvisor is not always reliable. I was simply pointing out a flaw in Pol's own logic using the graph he supplied.
If a clean site add links with adware (it's marked in red), this the nosense logic of McAfee (not mine)... but no problem.
...last post (mine!).
Welcome back BitDefender!
it seems you need a screenshot with arrows but since you dont listen there is no point. the lphant site hosts downloads of lphant wich includes malware, i am talking about the lphant site not the links to the other sites.
so your security software has not detected malware after you installed lphant? not even avast? do some research about programs before you download them the next time.
there is no point adding this lphant to the avast shield when it includes malware by itself, it is a waste of time.
Hi everyone! This my first post in this community.
"Lphant is an overall complete solution to find, download and share any file. Lphant allows you to download and share files of any kind or size with millions of other people using the eDonkey network, where more than 25 millions of files are available or download any of the millions of torrent files you can find in the Net. With Lphant you will be able to download virtually any content you wish. Lphant is fast an easy to use with the most sophisticated file sharing technology available." (Softonic)
This download is marked as ad-ware because it displays a [non intrusive] advertisement banner and a pop-up Window when the program is started/closed. Lphant has spyware/ad-ware no more. If your security programs/services alerts you about Lphant, it is just because they are out of date about this excellent program.
It is the only one program I know that:
Compatible with emule/edonkey, Kad (kademlia) & BitTorrent.
Download a single file from torrent and elink at once.
A banner? A very little banner at bottom of the program? I think it is not a reason to treat this program as a badware.
Totally agree Abraxas,
During the years I've been on this forum, whenever a new users first post on this forum pertains to something
other than avast!, their motive always seems to be the same:
"A post by a fan-boy / girl pushing their favorite non avast related program."  :(
Firstly, I have been a happy user of Avast for several years and I use to install it on my clients’ PCs.
I just wanted to make it clear that Lphant is not a bad program, and that there is no reason not to include protection for it. In fact there is a second error; Avast identifies Lphant as a mail / messaging program, depending on what operation is doing Lphant.
I came here looking for an answer to the problem for all the people that use Lphant and Avast.
I am here not to promote anything.
Does Lphant not offer a means of having your AV scan the completed download ?
If it does this is the path to the file that does the scan (assuming avast is installed in the default location), C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe.
It does not. Avast will Scan the files when the downloads folder is open so it is not a very great problem. I just miss the time when avast stopped the files from being downloaded, when I used to work with Emule . Thanks anyway DavidR
You're welcome, perhaps you should suggest this as an option for lphant to have files scanned by your AV as this is a feature in many other P2P applications.
