Title: Avast info pop-ups!
Post by: MOZEY on January 03, 2010, 01:27:42 AM
Can somebody explain why, everytime I connect to the Internet, I get this small pop-up at the bottom right of my screen informing me that a New Version of Virus Database has been installed ???  So, OK, I get the message!!!   >:(  Have I missed out on something here? If not, can somebody 'pretty please' tell me how I can disable this annoying pop-up! I thought Norton was a pain; now I've got this!  >:(

Every-time ?
It only happens when an update is available and has been installed.

Currently there are about two a day, however over that last couple of days there have only been 1 a day.

You compare this notification to Norton hassles ???
Just had one and personally I find it reassuring rather than annoying.

If you really feel the need disable it.
From the avast Program Settings (right click the avast 'a' icon), Update (Basic), Details... button, uncheck Sow update process and Shoe sliding box after automatic updates.

Thank you, David. I rather thought this pop-up was something only I was getting.  ::)  The reason I found it an inconvenience was the fact it sort of froze my screen while it was visible.  ;D  I will follow the steps you suggested and thank you once again for your help!  ;)

Thanks David, that just helped me tremendously. After having two consecutive alerts, I found it necessary to finally get an answer (directions) :) online.
As much as I like being reassured, I dislike the annoying pop up.. It's like having your Mum call at a "inappropriate" time..lol..
If I'm ever across the pond, please allow me thank you at your local pub!  ;D
Cheers
Dave

I agree.
Even though it is something what helpful alerts I like or what advertisements I dislike.
I don't like the pop-ups.

That really annoys me.
Especially when I am doing sth hard.
