From some weeks Avast don't open&work; the message error is:
"The application has failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details." I don't find a event log; please help. Thanks.

Do you have any other security programs installed......
-
Thanks,
1. I had AVG from many years, without conflicts; today I uninstalled AVG.
2. I had also Malwarebytes but this software work only on request, it is not active.
3. I uninstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable and reinstalled the next day.
4. Unfortunately any positive effect. I suppose a personal error but only the devil know this.
-
today I uninstalled AVG.
Did you use the AVG removal tool with the uninstall, and got rid of any remnants that may have been left?
-
Yes, any remnants; I can not get rid of the error message with side-by-side configuration. And I suppose a more dangerous error but I din't know.

Googling the error message @ microsoft answers gives this:

Assuming your operating system you run is Win7.
EDIT: link to what is side by side configuration error here?: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/43681/Side-by-Side-Configuration-Incorrect (http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/43681/Side-by-Side-Configuration-Incorrect)
Not really os dependent. C++ libraries must be installed correctly for this to work properly.

Thank you; I dowloaded today and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. After the reinstallation I finally managed to restart normal Avast.

You are welcome.
Glad this worked.
