Title: Outlook Express
Post by: Charlie68 on January 07, 2005, 11:07:59 AM
G'Day guys & Dolls

Again I find myself with a little problem.
When I try to send E-mail via Outlook Express, it comes up with this message.....

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'avast!', Account: 'mail.tpg.com.au', Server: 'mail.tpg.com.au', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 5.6.1 One or more viruses were detected in this message. To prevent further infections, TPG will not allow relaying of messages that contains a virus. Details: infected:TrojanDownloader.Win32.Keenval.f', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F

....it mentions Avast!, A trojan, Port 25 etc.

Basically it is cheezing me off to not being able to send e-mails.
I am definatley NOT a computer dude. Which makes it hard.
To the best of my knowledge I have quarantined the Trojan, so that is out of the way,(hopefully).

What do I do now?
Please help an idiot. :)

Click on the link in my signature, visit the malware removal section, make sure your system is clean and try to send a message to yourself to test if it is working or not.

Keep us informed.

from what your message says it(the trojan ) is in the message to be sent and it wont let it out ?
Does this make sense to you?

When I go into your link & read it. It suggests that I have the 4 different programs. I have all besides Hijackthis. When I download this I stop it because a message comes up saying "No Authenticode Identified". So I dont go any further.

Direct link to download the HJT log analyzer (which comes with the latest version of HijackThis):

Direct link to download HiajckThis:
http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

or:
Download the file using a Web browser that does not use Authenticode verification (e.g., Netscape Navigator or Opera).  Save the file to your hard disk, and launch it manually.
