Post by: wr3ckz on July 25, 2012, 11:51:28 PM
Why is this? It makes my boot time so much slower then any anti-virus i've had before.

Malware Bytes

But this shouldn't be a problem, because i've had Malwarebytes and its by far the best anti-malware i've used. And i've combo'd it with many other av's. For some reason, avast! just slows down my pc?

I had microsoft security essentials installed before it. And, I uninstalled it by going to Control Panel- Uninstall a program- and deleted it from there

not sure if it will make any difference..... but you may run the uninstall tool just in case there are any leftover files

you find it at #23b here.    http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

then you may try this.    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/startuplite

I've also experienced this problem. until it dawned on me that I've enabled an option in Troubleshooting that doesn't allow avast to start before other Windows service programs. I've disabled it and everything is fine.

P.S. I use XP SP2.

... but can you log onto the net whilst AVAST loads or is the program blocking access?

... sorry, just re-read your post, ignore the above. - However, personally I find that either way, enabled or not, the duration until I have internet access is around the same. Its not quick ...
