Title: URL:Mal infection message keeps popping up
Post by: parade89 on July 28, 2012, 08:10:09 PM
The following message continues to pop up, even on this web site.

URL:   hxxp://sdkjqxua.cn/3441038165?w
Process:   C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
Infection:   URL:Mal

I performed a boot time scan earlier. Looks like problems are resolved -- but now this message....

What can I do?

@ parade89
Please 'modify' your post change the URL from http to hXXp, to break the link and avoid accidental exposure to suspect sites, thanks.

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL
THEN

Download the latest version of TDSSKiller from here (http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Please copy and paste its contents on your next reply.

FINALLY

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1  (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here  (http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_Disable_your_Security_Programs_t96260.html&pid=494216#entry494216)

Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3.  If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

Thank you so much for your reply and your instructions. I did my best to follow your instructions precisely, however there were points in the process where the "unexpected" occurred. I hope the attached logs will show that I accomplished the mission.
1. The OTL scan and log are attached.
2. I ran the Kapersky as instructed. At the end, there was no "Cure" option available. So I'm attaching log.
3. ComboFix was a little confusing. When I first double-clicked, a "cmd" window came up as if it were checking files. Then the window went away and nothing else happened, I didn't see a log so I restarted thinking that the program stalled. There is no .txt file in C:\ from ComboFix.

BTW, the computer has been running a full 15 minutes now without a Malware message coming up. I think that's good news, right?

I hope I didn't mess this up. I await you instructions. Thanks again.

The lack of alerts is good maybe

Could you re-run TDSSKiller for me please.  If you get the same apparent problem

 Please download the following tool

Listparts (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/listparts/dl/77/)

Run the tool, click Scan and post the log (Result.txt) it makes.
