Title: Memory Usage During & After a Scan

I’m using OS X 10.6.8 .  I have the free version of Avast! for Mac installed.  Even though this situation does not appear to cause a problem I’m curious as to why its happening.

During a scan all my free memory will be converted to inactive, & it will stay as inactive after the scan has finished.  Why is Avast gobbling up all the free memory during a scan & converting it to inactive?  I have 8GB of memory.  Thanks for any info!
