Title: avast causing win7 to crash
Post by: tigerhawk53 on August 19, 2012, 09:33:37 PM
hello, I am running a custom built pc with a windows 7 install. about two weeks ago during a virus scan avast made it to 27% and then my computer crashed, when it rebooted on its own it was just a blank screen, i had to do a restart by pushing the power button. I tried again and got the same results, so I tried a boot scan which crashed at 4%. After that I decided to monitor my cpu to make sure it wasnt overheating and it was well within the heat tolerance so that was not the problem. I have since uninstalled avast and installed avg and is able to scan my computer completely without a problem so i seriously doubt it is a virus or a hardware problem. has anyone else had this issue?

Any other security program installed when avast crashed?
Which was your old antivirus (before avast)?
