Just completed a boot time scan and found Paint Shop pro 8.0 had file errors. I had been having trouble with this crashing once in a while, also I clicked Print Layout and got 'No default Printer Installed', apparently this is a common problem and the cure is either a repair install or an update to V8.10, which I did... and cured the no printer problem.
I seemed to recall I tried a re-install to no effect, but I did not root about for any 'leftovers' in the registry.
My question is why should Avast report 11 similar errors?
File C:\System Volume Information\_restore{AF87390A-C22B-4477-AEAB-72CB1A1E1ACC}\RP42\A0051014.exe|>[Embedded_R#0001280]|>%MAINDIR%\Paint Shop Pro.exe Error 42145 {Installer archive is corrupted.}

The boot scan reported back 'as clean' apart from these errors in Jasc Paint shop, can anyone throw any light? Was it 'one of them things or a virus?
Looks like a re-install is called for and a 'root about' is the way to go, thanks.

they are located in system restore..... so it is just a copy

That's what I thought, glad to be sure. Guess I could do a clean out and try another scan, but what the heck I'll see how it goes. Any problems I'll do just that and do a complete program install should I get panicky I guess.
Thanks for your prompt reply and assurance, Avast certainly protecting the files so must be doing it's job.
Cheers, Dave
