Title: Internet Mail Configuration
Post by: migdale on January 18, 2005, 12:36:17 PM
Sorry to ask such a basic question but I am new to the Avast Anti virus software and am still trying to learn how to use it.
In the "on -Access Scanner" dialog box, when I set the Internet Mail options to Start so "the provider is currently running".... I have noticed that I cannot receive mail in that configuration since I am unable to connect to my ISP.
If I press "terminate" so "no task is currently using this provider" then I am able to contact my ISP in this configuration and receive my mail.
My question is how do I configure the internet mail box so that I am protected from viruses but still able to connect to my ISP and receive mail  ???
Thanks for your help.

1]
Setup the mail as if Avast isn't there.

2]
If you have a NT based system: Avast will take care of the rest automaticly
If you have Windows 98(se) / ME : Run the mail protection wizzard

This is also explained in the help file. I suggest you read that to get familiar with Avast, the options it is offerering you and what the options mean/do.
