Title: Avast + defender
Post by: rjbenn on September 02, 2012, 02:25:37 AM
Hi,
I have recently bought a new computer with Windows 7. I am using Avast Internet Security 7.0.1466. Apparently Windows Defender is operating as it requests updates all the time.
I know nothing about Windows Defender, whether it is an AV or a malware program.
Should I disable it, or is there any harm in letting it run. I don't want any conflict with Avast.
Cheers
Bob

Welcome to the forum. :)
Defender is a Malware program and actually not needed since avast! Malware detection is at least as good as defender's.
Most of us use and recommend Malwarebytes Free (http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/) as the perfect companion for avast!
