Title: What is Avast svc downloading??
Post by: Nagan on September 05, 2012, 10:48:34 AM
Hi,
I am with 7.0.1426 at my own volition , since some issues particular to me are creating some malfunctions in the higher versions and letting it to be sorted out.
Yesterday I was surprised to see around 72mb download attributed to AvastSvc and no other program was using internet at that time.
So what is that download supposed to be. I am updated on a regular basis and Virus signatures (incremental) are not that big?? ::) ::)

Anything that goes through Web Shield will be counted as if avast! was downloading it. It's what most see in firewalls as avast! traffic...

I think it has to do with windows filtering. Because avast is scanning everything you are browsing, pictures etc. windows and third party report avast is downloading everything. I have noticed this with most other av's.
Because it's downloading 'through' avast! If that makes sense.

It does, as it acts as a local proxy. ;)

Thanks for the replies. No it is not a loopback problem. It was AVAST which was downloading as I said earlier no other internet based programs were running.
