Title: Help Needed Very Quickly!!!
Post by: SerenityVerdant on September 18, 2012, 08:44:50 AM
Four times now I have had to do a system restore and I did not understand why. I open up my avast! and it says that the entire service has just stopped. I got no warning or anything like that, so it just randomly decided to stop protecting my computer. Looking through the other forums, it said that you had to install and then re-install it, so I did.

Problem is... I paid for the best service for 1 year and now I am stuck with the free stuff, which obviously doesn't do everything I paid for it to do. How exactly do I get my actual product back?

Also... why is it saying that avast! is a threat? That isn't exactly reassuring...

When doing system restore you must turn off avast self protection first.....if not it will be messed up

So now you need to uninstall it using the uninstall tool and install again

Every time I go to avast.com, it comes up saying "threat has been detected". I leave it on the site, it repeats the same thing. If I exit the site, it stops saying and then I return and it says it again.

And your solution did not answer my question... I just wanted to know how I get what I paid for? I paid for a year, but after uninstalling and installing again, I am stuck with the free anti-virus. I want to know how I get back to my 1 year thing.

To check for infections.....follow guide and attach logs....not copy and paste

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
adwcleaner / malwarebytes / otl / aswmbr logs

Then a specialist will have a look later today

You would have been sent a license file to your email if you had previously registered a paid version of avast, if you did not save the email then the link Pondus supplied will help you to have it resent.
