I have noticed that avast slow down google chrome on one of my computers. If I disable avast file shield and web schield google chrome seems to be faster. The strange thing is that on the other two systems of mine google chrome works goodwith avast. Can anyone tell me if avast could be the cause of this slowness? If yes, what can I do to prevent avast to slow down my browser? Please help me

is avast blocking my browser? How can I do to prevent avast free from blocking chrome?
-
No one can help me??

avast! free does not block chrome. avast! doesn't have a firewall. avast! free scans your internet activity.
The only thing it blocks are infections and infected websites.
I'm using Chrome and avast! free.
What firewall are you using ???

Which version of Chrome ???
Have you tried disabling all of your extensions to narrow down the problem ???
If it works without the extensions, then you'll need to isolate the culprit that's causing the problem.
When was the last time that you cleared the browser data ???

I have the last version of chrome, number 21.0.1180.89 and the only extention I use is the webrep plugin of avast. If I disable it the situation remains the same. I always clean the cache of chrome with cleaner, I do it each day

At this point, I have no ideas as to what's causing it.
I use Version 22.0.1229.64 beta-m without hesitation.
You could try a clean install of Chrome but I don't know if that would help.
Sorry.

Stop the WebRep to feel the speed of surfing!
I had huge delay with the stable version and this additional protection a long time ago

If you had read selen's replies, you would have known that disabling WebRep made no difference.
I have WebRep and a few other scanner add-ons and am not having any slowdowns in Chrome.

I have just turned WebRep on again and it is ok no delay - more safety now.
Chrome stable > 21.0.1180.89m

I recall... the reason it was the WOT extension in my case, two years back!

Try checking the proxy settings on your chrome browser and compare it with the ones in FF and IE.

What is the best configuration for the proxy with google chrome? I'm not very practical with proxy configuration
-
Unless you are using a Proxy setting, don't make any changes. Simply leave the default.
If you can reach the internet with IE then you should also be able reach it with Chrome unless you make changes.

I have leave the default, IE works good, while with chrome I can't reach the internet...

Try uninstalling Chrome, reboot your system and then re-install Chrome.
-
If I may add my two cents. Try avast GUI>Settings>Updates>Proxy Settings>Direct connection (no proxy). :)
WebRep works fine in both Chrome and FF. :)

If we get enough 2cent fixes, we might even come up with a $1.00 cure. :)

Using FF or IE, go to google, and search for RevoUninstaller. Download this, and use it to remove Google Chrome using the "Advanced" uninstall method. (Do not uninstall Avast! since Avast! doesn't cause this problem with other browsers on your computer.)
Do this by double clicking Google Chrome in the list of installed programs that Revo displays. When the next screen pops up, click Advanced (at the bottom) and click next. (or uninstall) First it will run the windows uninstaller as normal, then it will scan your PC for any registry entries left behind by google chrome, and any files it may have left behind. Make sure you delete ALL of these entries, and files.
After this is removed, restart your computer, then reinstall google chrome to see if this fixes your problem. I've had to do this before after a corrupted google chrome update. Hope this helps.

Whoa! Slow down. After uninstall avast use CCleaner as it is very safe to use. http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
I'm not a big fan of Revo as it has been to known to create more problems than it fixes.
CCleaner is the better choice. CCleaner will also uninstall software. :)

I discovered that the Avast Online Security extension in Chrome bring Google Maps to its knees. Disabling that extension made Google Maps MUCH quicker!

Hi garne2t,
Welcome to the Avast Forums.
Please note this thread was started September 19, 2012 and last post was on September 27, 2012, almost seven years ago. Avast Online Security is not a part of avast real-time protection as you seem to imply but is, rather, a browser add-on, so the issue you're reporting is different from what was discussed in this topic.
Please start your own topic, especially when they are as old and obsolete as this one is. If you care to, more information in a new topic as to what you saw, experienced, and what you did to fix it will likely help others with similar issues with AOS.

For AOS matters, you would be better to post here:
