Running Pro 1466 and after installing Windows 8, then Avast, most times I cannot connect to the App Store, Mail, SkyDrive or other Internet locations clicked from the Start screen. Anyone else?

There is at least one other pretty recent thread on this. You may want to search for it though last time I read it there was no resolution just a debate going on as to what was causing the problem. The least post I saw on that thread was at least a couple of days ago so there could have been additional posts to it since then.
I did do some research on the subject and it appears that an upgrade from a previous version of W8, i.e. W8-CP or W8-DP could be causing the problem. Though, I was not able to find a confirm that that is what is causing the problem.
Did you upgrade from a previous version of W8?

Which version of windows 8 is installed ???
What kind of computer are you using and, what's the screen resolution ???
Does it happen all the time ???
(I have no problems and am using the latest version of avast! Free

I don't think avast free has a firewall? I'm using the RTM release version of Windows 8 on a Dell XPS Studio running 1920x1080 resolution on a Dell 24" HD monitor. This is a clean install. It happens all the time. Once I remove avast, I can connect to app store, mail and skydrive. I will go look for the other thread, thanks.
