Title: How to block an email address or domain?
Post by: Brenda52411 on October 02, 2012, 09:38:26 PM
I keep receiving invitations from LinkedIn.  Someone suggested that I add invitations@linkedin.com to my blocked senders list in Avast.  I have the free version.  I'm not seeing anywhere in Avast where I can block a sender.

Am I overlooking the ability to block specific email addresses?

You don't say what avast version you have ?
The avast Internet Security version has an anti-spam module and I guess you should be able to do that in that module.

I am sorry I didn't give enough information.  I am using the free version of Avast antivirus.

there is usually a block / filter function in your mail client
you create a rule where all mail from address@eksample.com to be sendt to spam or deleted folder

So Avast (free version) / virus protection has no ability to filter out specific email addresses?  I was hoping to do it within Avast so it didn't even hit my email client.

That is the problem avast is an anti-virus not an email client or anti-spam (unless running avast Internet Security). So unless the email contains a virus avast doesn't filter emails, just scans and alerts to infection if present.

No idea what your email program is, but that should have some rudimentary email blocking/anti-spam as Pondus mentioned.

I use MailWasher Pro (paid option) as my anti-spam, that deals with spam and any other blocking, etc. deleting flagged emails at server level.
