Title: "Preparing Your Desktop" - Black screen with an error message.
Post by: Pokesaver on October 05, 2012, 09:05:29 PM
I've had this happen once before and a restart usually fixes it. I think it has to do with a profile error, but I'm not sure if is has anything to do with avast! so I'm asking anyway.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, avast! Free, and MBAM Free. Thanks for the help.

If you need to know specs, it's an Intel i5, 1.5 TB hard drive, 8 gb of ram, and a HTI Radeon 6450 graphics card.

The most important thing is missing, what is the error message on the black screen ?

A Black screen crash, is usually hardware related (heat, etc.) and doesn't normally have any text or error message on it. So this is somewhat strange.

Something about not being able to connect to the windows service. I was sort of impatient so I force-reset 1 second before the screen so I saw it for about 1/10 of a second :P

I would have waited a little longer to get as much info as possible, given the inability to connect to the windows service it wasn't going to be doing anything in a hurry.
