1) Is there a log(s) to show what and when Virus Definition Updates were installed, including Streaming Updates?
2) When i installed Avast free i got a lot of warnings that email is not scanned by Avast.
I've reconfigured my email accounts so Avast should scan them.
Is there a way to verify all my changes work correctly, and list any email accounts that are not scanned by Avast?

2. if avast detect mail account that is using SSL/TLS connection (secure encrypted connection) it will give you a warning. since this is encrypted no AV can scan it.....if they could it would not be secure ;)
the you have two options
1. sett it up so avast can scan it, meaning disable ssl/tls in your mail client and let avast do the ssl/tls connection
2. ignore it and tur off the pop up warning
many mail providers like Hotmail / Gmail / Yahoo scan the mail at there mail servers so they are already scanned before you recive it
