Title: Avast got stuck during scanning archives in D:\Old_D\PINBALLS\PINBALL4
Post by: dor123 on October 22, 2012, 07:43:25 PM
Every time when Avast scans this directory (Which is of the shareware version of Extreme Pinball), it got stuck in one of these three archive files: Pinball.exe (Self-extractor), Pinball.R00 and Pinball.R01.
This cause my custom made scheduled scan of my anti-virus, to got stuck on one of these files, and not completing the scan.
All of these archive are very small.
Why this is happening?

I suggest that you add that folder or those files to the exclusion list. Open AVast and click scan computer on the left to obtain the scanning options. On the bottom right there is Create Custom Scan. Click that, on the left of this window there are several different tabs - click exclusions then add the path for that file or items.
As you have made a custom scan, just scroll down to your scan (after arriving on the scan computer tab), click settings on bottom right on the left of this window there are several different tabs - click exclusions then add the path for that file or items.

I don't know why the scan hangs at those files. Try scanning one at a time to see if that helps.

Hope this helps a bit anyway.

Try also a standard non-custom (normal full) scan of your disk and report back your results either way.

I decided to delete these three archive files that Avast got stuck on them to solve this problem.
Avast got stuck on these files, not only in my custom made scan, but also when I scanned that folder only, or even the specific files that Avast got stuck.
Avast got stuck on these files also during the Boot scan.
