You didn't had to uninstall Pro. Just entering the key for the Home version would have done the trick.

Since the home version doesn't have a script blocker, it is not likely that it is Avast causing this.

Got any other security related application(s) installed?
If so, which one(s)?

Have you turned off the Avast providers one at a time to see if it makes a difference?
If not, please do so.

Jany, do things like the Windows Control Panel work correctly? Also, the Windows Help?
If not, it's probably an avast ScriptBlocker problem and the best way to solve it is to uninstall avast, reboot, reinstall avast.
There're simpler ways as well but they actually tend to be more consuming because they require you to know exactly what you're doing (manual editing of the registry etc).

Thanks

Hi!

I've installed 4.5 Pro trial, and I've had the same problem, scripts just stoped working in IE. Oh and also Windows chm help files ain't working.
I've uninstalled it but still scripts won't work on IE. I've also have firefox and that's working fine so I see no reason for Avast to screw IE.

I would appreciate some suggestions, even if it some way to make a repair instalation on IE if that's possible.

Definetly this was not the best way to get in touch with Avast. I'm disapointed, not only with this but also with the many requestes to restart the system.

Hello !
I've tryed to go to my IE browse page with avast disabled the script did'nt work on page i uninstalled avast & reinstall all still the same i don't understand why it does that but i'm really disapointed like our friend who has the same problem yhe only thing that i don't understand it's everything was working good before i've installed avast pro also on download page avast pro you can read the following text:.....

Script Blocker (Professional Edition only)
The resident protection of the Professional Edition includes an additional module, not contained in the Home Edition - Script Blocker. This module watches all the scripts being executed in the operating system (so called WSH scripts - Windows Scripting Host). It also scans all the scripts run as a part of a web page within your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and Mozilla).

I really apologize but there is something wrong with pro edition.....  :'( good luck to Caral friends !

For Caral and Jany.

Because you have uninstalled the trial Pro version, I think that you have limited your options as if you install it again, you will probably be notified that the trial has expired. This is to avoid uninstall/reinstall after the generous 60 day free trial.

You can try the Avast Uninstall Utility, find it here (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_uninstall_util.html) and see if it can get rid of any remnants. Then reinstall and see how that goes.

The utility didn't help at all.

Can some what chages are made into the registry by the instalation (for script blocking only), stupid me didn'd made a save.
I'm really trying hard not to reinstall windows. But lots of stuff have stoped working, stupid MS uses scripts for everything.
