Title: I don't understand
Post by: lookbehind on February 01, 2005, 03:14:12 PM
I use OEx and have a long time out but sometimes there is a failure and the dialog box as per attachment appears. As I have a BB connection I don't see why. Surely on BB I am always connected.

The connection to your mail server is not permanent.

When you click on receive it makes a connection to your isp's mail server.

The problem with avast is if no response is sent back from your isp's mail server after 120 seconds then you get the message as shown in your attachment.

To cure this you can increase the timeout value in the Internet Mail provider, or make it shut down the connection.

Or switch to Outlook.

You might also want to increase the timeout in Outlook Express:
