Title: Missing sys tray icons
Post by: Dallas3super on February 01, 2005, 09:59:15 PM
I have the same situation regarding
what people are saying is a 'false
positive' on the disp file where Spycatcher
is making the Avast 4.5 home edition icons
not appear on the sys tray.

These are the programs that appear to
be processing in background:

ashmaisv.exe
avast! antivirus service (ashserv.exe?)
aswupdsv.exe

Question: Until this is resolved - even
without the icons there, do I still have
resident protection?

Use RejZor's AEC tool to get the icons back.
or
Edit the registry manually (not recommended) to get them back.
or
Restore the changed things from Spybot from the backup.

This is a revision to my earlier post today.
I meant to indicate the possible conflict with
Spysweeper (not Spycatcher).  Sorry.

To reiterate:

I have the same situation regarding
what people are saying is a 'false
positive' on the disp file in Spysweeper
making the Avast 4.5 home edition icons
not appear on the sys tray.

This is as you are now aware a false positive by spy sweeper. If spy sweeper has a restore function, use it to roll back the false positive changes, if it doesn't it is not up to much.

Get the latest signature file update for spy sweeper as the false positive has been rectified.

Out of date AV/Malware software is almost as bad as none.
