Title: Need some encouraging words from you!
Post by: TG on February 02, 2005, 09:03:35 PM
Time to prase Avast!
I've been using it for quite some time and I just realized my past posts were only of complains! and inspite of complains I'm sticking to Avast! WHY???

So here are the answers I found for sticking to Avast, new users please read it carefully.

1. Avast is free in full functional mode [unlike the other AV who disable the features]

2. Avast supports skins!!! [ Have you ever heard an anti virus supporting skins!!] Well I love this feature.

3. One the best on access scanners I have seen. Most of the AV [ Norton specially ] has really bad way of scanning.... But Avast runs without hampering much of your performance when you start/copy programs. I really rate this high

4.  Smallest updates! This is another wonderfull thing. It takes some seconds to update Avast, unlike 10-15 minutes for average AV. Avast team has made wonders here.

5. Effortless integration with Outlook express and Outlook 2000, I have also used it with Thunderbird works excellent.

I'm sure good words will encourage Avast team, so please say some good words on this post to support the Avast team.

I agree, but concerning point 1 of your list:

Depends on how you look at it.
If you look from the Home to the Pro version you are right.
If you look from the Pro to the Home version you could say some things are disabled ;)
(or rather, they are not there at all)

For an overview of the differences look HERE (http://www.avast.com/eng/av4_version_comp.html)

Honestly, avast! is far from being as limited as other free AVs. Thats a major plus for many users (including me) who don't have the money to buy commercial AVs.

I agree with all statements made about avast so far.  I only have one other thing to add.  The customer service also rocks!

ur rite Avast! is a Cool Anit-virus!! Though i was using Norton and mcafee for years...Those ar shit AV :P
I was Lucky that i found Avast ! for www.download.com and Saw the rating more than 90% :-* :) And many people had post..Bad commnts abt Norton and mcafee..and they were rite..even i didn't like those product much..gives lots of troble..but i am not sure abt the virus deduction..Even then i saw the functionality of avast..it was unexpectly cool!!So i though why not give a try no harm in trying as long as i back up my stuff on my DVD-RW,so tension free..so i tryed it was cool and more funcltionality and takes very less resource  in avast!pro version even i was surprised that it had a very good support!like they have included a FORUM where i never seen in norton and mcafee..and now a days a Forum is quite famouse internet. No dobt abt it.But it needs to support Advertisement quite a lot even need to publish worldwide media.Need to encourage the Avast! Team in that sutiuation :)

Personally, I think that avast is thee best antivirus software around. It beats the pants off the likes of Norton and McAfee.

It is so good that I use it on both my home PCs and I have recommended it to all my friends. Even my grandmother uses it!  :D.

I used to run AVG on another computer and became so irritated with it that I took it off completely and installed avast.

Well done Alwil!

No, you misunderstand me. I used the word "thee" as a superlative, not a typo of "three".

su·per·la·tive
adj.
1. Of the highest order, quality, or degree; surpassing or superior to all others.
2. Excessive or exaggerated.
3. Grammar. Of, relating to, or being the extreme degree of comparison of an adjective or adverb, as in best or brightest.

Therefore: avast is of the highest order and quality, and is surpassing or superior to all other antivirus products!  ;D

avast! Home is the best AV I ever had. Before it I've used AVG, but it has a lot of problems with updates.
Avast! has a perfect support team and super friendly forum.
Avast! team quickly responds to new treats and some issues if detected. (no one is perfect)
I can say, that avast! team is doing a great job improving this program.
