Title: Problem with USB Modem

I'm having a problem hacing installed a USB modem. Once I reboot, the modem does not synch any more if I have Avast!4 installed to run at start-up (i.e. the resident scanner or mail protection). I know my modem is operating on the IP Address 81.0.0.0 and it seems to have a generic problem with many things that run as Windows powers up. Is there a cure to this maddening problem?!

Make sure you have the latest os update, and latest versions of drivers for all your cards and devices. This might solve it.
