Title: Problems with aswmon2.sys on WinXP
Post by: YaN on September 10, 2003, 04:06:35 PM
Hi!

Recently installed Avast! 4 home on my P4/2.4/512MB running Win XP Pro SP1, enable on-access (modify/create) scanning for the files with extensions in the default list. Got into troubles when running eMule P2P software and downloading large avi/mpg files.
Symptom: system crash (BSOD) with message: ~ aswmon2.sys: Driver released a resource that it doesn't own. Happens every 2-3 hours.
Checked the forum, downloaded:
http://cat.asw.cz/~vlk/aswmon2.sys
No system crashes! But, the computer runs out of memory (2GB pagefile upused), kernel memory taking more than 200MB.
Uninstalled "avast!" System seems to be running without problems.
Guess there is something wrong with memory management inside aswmon2.sys.
Really like avast and want to use it! Hope you fix it soon.

Regards
