Title: Renewal of IS licence and expiration dates problem
Post by: Twisted Mind on November 24, 2012, 10:51:50 PM
Hello,
Here is the thing. I had avast is licence valid until 7.12.2012 and avast has been asking me to renew it for 2 weeks now. Today i decided to finally do it. When i clicked on "renew" button i chose one year of additional protection, read the info about renewal and proceeded with the payment in my browser and got the new licence.
The problem is that the info in avast clearly said that the new licence will be added to the existing one and my subscription will be extended for that one year, while the actual licence counts from the moment of purchase and not activation. So basicly, my licence is 15 day shorter than it should have been.

I am not complaining about 15 days of subscription and not asking for anything, but this happened to me last year too. Is there anything that i should have done different or is this normal? If i renewed my licence the first day avast asked me to, i would be pretty much ripped off for one whole month.

It is not much of a choice, either get annoyed by renewal message for a month or lose days of your subscription.

Yes, that is an annoyance. :-\
My license will expire in 18 days so I'll wait till the 18th. day and then .... :)

edit: btw it is renewed "from the time of transaction/purchase", not added on to remainder of existing license.

...or lose days of your subscription.

You can contact sales[at]avast.com, they'll fix it for you.

As a reseller, I do a license combine for my customers.  You will need your old customer number, and your new customer number, and those licenses will be combined into the new number, so you will not lose any time.  The other thing I do is pro-rate the licese, so you do not pay, for waht you do not get.
