Title: Disable Avast internet Security?
Post by: Smithmountainman on December 05, 2012, 07:33:19 AM
I need to completely disable Avast - not just the realtime shields, but completely disable/shut down the entire program.

I know the general rule is to never disable the antivirus - this is an exception to the rule.  I'm a student; in order to type my exams, I have to use a program that locks my computer.  This program is conflicting with Avast - avast won't let the program lock the computer, the program won't run if the computer isn't locked, and I can't take the exam.  I can disable my wireless while avast is down, and enable it after the exam is over and Avast is back up and running.

My question is simple: Can avast be completely disabled/shut down?  If so, how?

First turn off avast self protection in avast settings then you'll be able to shut down all services via task manager, don't forget to turn it back on when your finished your exam :)
