Title: i.trkjmp.com malware
Post by: roelandwatteeuw on January 06, 2013, 10:11:54 PM
Hi

Since a few weeks I'm really annonyed by this malware, i.trkjmp.com. It give popups on some words, random on the internet. So I started searching the internet to fix this problem.
I read some other topics about this malware/virus, but none of them seems to have the right solution for me.
This website/forum, from avast (my standerd antivirus-program) seems to have the best result in succeeding.
But the solution is for everybody "different". Share the logs from 'adwcleaner', 'OTL'..., then they give them a specific solution.

So I downloaded the programs and let them run. (as explained on http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0)
- First ran adwcleaner --> log in attachment (AdwCleaner[S2].txt)

- Second: a quick scan from Malwarebytes --> report in attachment (mbam-log-2013-01-06 (18-58-10).txt)

- Third: scan OTL --> log in attachment (OTL.Txt), the Extra.Txt isn't created anymore. When I tried it yesterday, it did --> attached that log (Extra.Txt)

- Fourth: Scan aswMBR.exe --> I get an error after 3 minutes. Translated it is: "avast! Antirootkit doens't work anymore. A problem has occured, the program doesn't function good anymore. The program will close and a message will be shown if there's a solution available." End of program, no logs. The last file he tried to scan is always C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications... (can't read rest)

- And last: Scan with RogueKiller + fix shortcuts --> RKreport[1]_S_01062013_02d2138.txt + RKreport[2]_D_01062013_02d2138.txt + RKreport[3]_D_01062013_02d2142.txt + RKreport[4]_SC_01062013_02d2151.txt --> will be post in my next reply (can't add any more attachments to this post)

Yesterday I also tried all scans above. I thought it worked, but false alarm. The malware is still there...
So today, new effort, with the result in attachment.

Hope someone can give me a effective solution!
Sorry if some logs are in Dutch. If that gives a problem, I can try to run it again

Thanks a lot!

greetz

Ha roelandwatteeuw,

Nee, ik denk niet dat dat een probleem hoeft te zijn. Het gaat onze gekwalificeerde removal experts om de data en die zijn taalonafhankelijk, neem ik aan.

I normally use Mozilla Firefox, where the problem occurs.
I tried IE and google Chrome, and at first sight, things seems to be normal over there.

I'll do the handlings you've asked and post asap the results.

thx!

Thanks, I believe it is the FVD Suite Addon that is the culprit

Hi essexboy and roelandwatteeuw,

Is that because of this ->: http://fvdspeeddial.uservoice.com/forums/156221-fvd-speed-dial-firefox-chrome-bugs-ideas-and-s/suggestions/2776734-get-rid-of-the-advertising-spam-within-the-addon- ( link posting author = anonymous)  So adware spam crap to pay the developer's bills is explaining what you suspect?

polonus

P.S. @roelandwatteeuw,

Nog een goed 2013 gewenst, en natuurlijk vrij van malware en crapware, welkom op het avast webforum,

In attachments, 2 logs
- the one after the 'Run Fix' --> 01062013_230138.log
- one after the 'Quick Scan' --> OTL2.Txt

The FVD suite can be possible. It's quite recent I installed this on my computer.

PS @ polonus: Thx! Hetzelfde voor u natuurlijk! Dat 2013 mag brengen wat in 2012 vergeten is (en daarbij bedoel ik zeker geen malware/virussen)!

Hi, I found the problem, I think

You were talking about FVD Suite, so I went looking in my Add-ons - Extensions.
There I switched some things on and off and see the effect of that handling.
I came to the conclusion that the problem was fixed when I switched off 'TrueSuite Website Logon 5.0'

Now, I was able to switch it off, but how do I delete it? There's no remove-button for this add-on...
Or do you have a better idea? (Maybe is deleting this not enough for preventing it from coming back?)

- one after the 'Quick Scan' --> OTL3.Txt

And... it seems the fix didn't work...

The addon - extension - TrueSuite Website Logon is still there
+
the popups from 'i.trkjmp.com' are back, even with the 'TrueSuite Website Logon' switched off...

:(

In attachement, the OTL quick-scan file

Looks good for the moment...

And, why don't you like FF? I thought it was one of the safest browsers for malware, popups and other sh*t?

If you compare it to IE6 then I would agree...  But look through the forum and note the mal url threads that are not associated with TDSS or zero access and you will find that the majority are rogue firefox addons.  Plus it does not work straight out of the box, to make it functional you need to install other small programmes which may not be what they seem  ;D   I did try Firefox a few years ago but it was that fact which dissuaded me from using it (this also applies to Chrome) Others may well disagree but that is their right, I like going against the flow as well  ;D

Any further popups/alerts ?

Hmm, I set a big value on the opinion of an expert/computer-great-mind... so maybe I should switch back to IE... big step after all this years... :)

And nope, no further pop-ups or alerts! You did it (again)!
I thank you very, very much!

Windows 7 will take IE10 which is even more secure than IE9

However, the choice is yours I would never try to sway you one way or the other.. This is just my personal view  ;D

Subject to no further problems   :)

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset  System Restore points:

Run AdwCleaner and press uninstall

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button.  It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that(http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/javaicon.gif)   Your Java is out of date.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.

Upgrading Java:Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

(http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7729/mbamicontw5.gif) Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php).

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker (http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/) and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport  (http://www.trusteer.com/Products/Trusteer-Rapport-for-Online-Banking)

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide  How did I get infected in the first place ?
