Title: size on disk?
Post by: guestja on January 23, 2013, 04:04:58 PM
I just noticed that my avast free takes up 260 megs on the disk. Is this the normal?

Yes, the size on disk is going to be much larger than the compressed installation file. Currently mine is 296MB, in the greater scale of things (other AVs, large hard drives, etc.) this is not big.

It also fluctuates in size as when definitions are updated the old and new increments are combined into a new defs sub folder. Avast does housekeeping and periodically clears out old defs sub-folders.

It should also vary in size I think, relative to the Avast product installed. ie> Avast Free vs Avast Pro as my Pro installation Folder is 467MB. ???
