Title: Repair feature and fresh installation

I tried out the repair feature without any result after getting the 'package broken ' prompt. I had therefore uninstalled avast.
I had downloaded v4.5pro and saved it in my hard disk.My host machine has now been updated to v4.6.
As I have uninstalled the program one way of installing it would be to run the package 4.5 in my hard disk and use the updating feature to update it to 4.6.
Can some one tell me if there is an easier and simpler way?

Uhm... I'm probably missing something here.
Why don't you simply install avast 4.6?

Do I simply have to download version 4.6 and put in the existing pro license key ?  ???

Sorry I probably don't understand what you're trying to do.
Reinstall the program?

Then simply download the program (the download link always contains the latest version), install it, and use your key. What's the problem? :)
