Title: Windows 7 System Repair Disc
Post by: Charyb-0 on February 12, 2013, 08:09:20 PM
Is anyone else seeing the attached error while trying to create a repair disc in Windows 7?

I have used Windows 7 to create and restore images since the OS release and now I am seeing this error while trying to create a repair disc.

I have searched and searched for a method to repair this but have not seen anything concrete yet so here I am hoping that someone on this forum knows the answer.

I tried Macrium Reflect free but noticed that in order to restore an image I was required to use the Windows PE rescue disc that I created.
This is kind of a pain since my computer has the ability to boot. It looks like they removed the ability to boot directly into their recovery environment without using the rescue disc. Is this correct or was my install faulty?

For now, I am using Paragon Backup and Recovery of which I can restore a system image without using a rescue disc. I do have Paragon's rescue disc available just in case my computer is not able to boot.

Any help is welcome.

1. How do I repair Windows 7 so that I can create a rescue disc. I am not going to reinstall Windows for this because I have no idea what caused it and many others are having this problems. I can't find the solution anywhere.

2. In the free version of Macrium Reflect, have they removed the ability to boot into a rescue environment without using a rescue cd?

Thanks,
Charyb

About the recovery disks, download them before it's too late. For instance: -http://bootfromcd.com/data-recovery/windows-7-recovery-disk/
I've never heard you could boot Macrium in a recovery environment, only using a CD. How did you do that?

Check out below a list of the main tools of the genre and what each proposes to fix:

Hi Tech,

Thanks for the links to the .iso. I'm going to download these.

It's a little disheartening that I can't use Windows 7  to burn these discs. I have relied on W7 for the last 3 years to do this.

I haven't really ever recovered an image using Macrium Reflect so I wasn't certain if the ability to recover an image without booting from a cd was ever an option. So, I guess it never was?

I put each through a trial run just in case something were to happen to make certain I would know what to do with each program while under stress. Which has recently happened.

I found that:
1. I could no longer create a rescue disc in Windows 7 because of an error of which I don't know how to fix. So far, I haven't found the fix using a google search.
2. Macrium Reflect Free requires you to boot from a rescue disc even if your computer still has the ability to boot. A disadvantage of the free version?
3. Paragon worked as I was hoping. Since my computer still has the ability to boot, I could boot into the Paragon recovery environment without needing a rescue disc.

So, I am using Paragon until I can figure out this Windows 7 error.

Thanks for the links to the iso.

Download the ISO to your desktop https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/win7%2064bit%20rc.iso
Then using your burning software or the built in windows 7 one
If you want to burn to a USB let me know and I will give details for that

Thanks!  8)

After the reformat I am taking extraordinary precautions.
Buckups and system recovery images.
I learned the hard way. Can't be too careful.  :)

Google is the first place I checked and I have yet to find anything that works. Were you able to find the one solution that works?
