Title: Avast and Tdsskiller 2.8.16.0
Post by: Bluemeanie on February 19, 2013, 05:31:54 PM
I have no reason to think my pc is infected, just making sure all is clean before doing a backup. Thing I run first are Tdsskiller, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and a scan with Avast. Yesterday Tdsskiller informed me there was a new version, I was using 2.8.15.0, new one is 2.8.16.0. When I ran it, Avast gave me a popup that an untrusted program was trying to modify a protect resource. the program was Tsdsskiller. I've never seen that before. I denied access and Tdsskiller ran anyway, but it did complain about the driver not being able to load. Is this something new, do I have a problem that I'm not aware of? Yes I know this may not be the place to get an answer, but at least here people do answer things.

it is not uncommon that AV react on these tools as they have virus like behavior

As it was setting a deep driver, then Avast was concerned.  I should imagine it was a behaviour shield popup and if it is a known programme that you trust then you could allow it
