Title: Avast installation error on Ubuntu 12.10
Post by: tjraptis on February 22, 2013, 03:59:10 AM
I had avast! running on my previous Ubuntu machine, but due to an error (not caused by avast!), I had to reset it and reinstall Ubuntu alongside Windows 7. I then shutdown my machine. The next day when I tried to open avast!, it loaded on the dock for 5 seconds and then all of the sudden it stopped loading. When I checked my installed programs list, it wasn't there. I have tried rebooting my machine, and I have tried to reinstall avast! but I keep getting the same result. Does anybody know how I could fix this issue?

Run:

Code: [Select]
avastgui
from terminal and google the output.

This is the input I got:  178: /usr/bin/avastgui: /usr/lib/avast4workstation/bin/avastgui: not found.
I searched this up on google and I found out that I dont have the ia32-libs installed. I installed them and now everything is running smoothly. Thanks so much for your help. (I couldnt give up on avast!. You guys are one of the only companies I trust)
