Title: Avast Internal Error
Post by: VB30 on February 25, 2013, 10:25:02 AM
Hi Avast For Mac Support,

I've just had a pop up from Avast saying a Internal Error occurred.

I've opened the application and there seems no problem. Which said open the the app.

Just like to know where i can find the system logs?

I,m used to using windows so any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Almost all avast components use Syslog (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPSystemStartup/Chapters/LoggingErrorsAndWarnings.html (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPSystemStartup/Chapters/LoggingErrorsAndWarnings.html)) to log their errors and warnings, so You can use the Console application to view the messages.

If the popup was caused by an avast! daemon crash (which is the most probable reason), then you will also have a crash report under "DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION".

I have a similar problem. It says that it could not connect to the antivirus engine and won't run a scan. The only thing that still works is the online security part of the program. I tried uninstalling it, restarting my mac, everything. I even downloaded a different antivirus software and it had the same problem.

Is there anything that I need to do to get it up and running again?
