Title: av082c0.tmp
Post by: jdoit on February 28, 2005, 03:52:52 PM
I am runing Microsoft Outlook on Windows 98 SE.  My avast! program is 4.6 Professional.  I have it set up pretty much in default.  Avast! will find a virus as my email messages are downloading, I click on delete (the radio button "delete permanently" is selected and "delete on startup if necessary" is checked) the window closes and another, smaller window says 'cannot find C:/windows/temp/ AV082C0.tmp file, I click on OK and what I think is a closed loop between the previous Virus warning window and the lost file window begins.  I ying-yang between these two windows for a while and finally close the virus warning window by clicking on x in the upper right corner.
I downloaded Avast! Pro 4.6 from the internet and do not have a CD.

My problem is that I am caught in a loop.  How do I break this loop? Should I obtain the file av082c0.tmp and place it in the temp folder?  Where do iget this File, I don't have a CD?

Closed loops could be solved by:
1. Cleaning your temporary folder (cache).
To do this go to Internet explorer >Tools > Internet options > Delete files > Click delete all offline content (just to be sure) > click ok.
It might take some time to delete them.
2. Boot time scanning (but you have Windows 98 SE and it's not available...).
