Title: CONFLICT BETWEEN AVAST V8 AND THUNDERBIRD V17
Post by: rboroff on March 04, 2013, 09:29:21 PM
Hi,

A few days ago I upgraded to Avast V8, the free version.

Shortly after I noticed that one of the seven email accounts in Thunderbird was not getting new mail.

All other 6 accounts are receiving.

All 8 of my shield are up.

When I temporarily dissable Avast, the single account will then receive.

Does anyone have a suggestion please?

Thank you

Richard Boroff

Avast8 can now (by all accounts, excuse unintended pun) handle the SSL emails without having to modify your email settings in your email program.

Since you previously had avast 7 you will have needed to change your email program, account settings to allow avast to scan SSL email, these changes need to be reversed, e.g set back to the SSL ports and Authentication.

Delete the entries for your email accounts in the avast Mail Shield, Settings, SSL Accounts.

See image, click to expand.

No problem, glad I could help.

I take it that this has resolved the problem ?

@ DavidR
I have Avast 8 Free and I did a clean installation. When I saw the image attached to your post, I decided to have a look at the Mail Shield settings in my Avast. But I was surprised because I didn't see "MAIL ACCOUNTS" field there. Is it all right?

They are no longer required, my image was an example showing what that window would show if you had any accounts in it and the actions to take.

If you did a clean install you wouldn't see any accounts in the SSL Accounts page.

If a user installed over the top or did an update from the UI then there would be account data in that window (carried forward from the previous settings).
