Now it says Avast Free Trial is not activated-buy.I translated that from Croatian.
I am subscribed for 10 days only. This morning I was registered for 1 year.
Version 8.0.1483 is half baked and it should be still in beta. Please someone give me
working link for Avast Free 7.0.1474 and also for Avast Cleaner/Uninstaller.

Run the uninstaller for any AV's you used prior to avast from here to remove remanents: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/
1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=117113.0
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot

I uninstalled Avast 8 with Avast uninstaller in Safe mode.I thought I
was installing version 7 but it was version 8 again (from FileHippo).
DO NOT CHANGE MY FREE VERSION TO PRO BECAUSE I DON'T NEED IT.
I've found crack and I'll crack it if you change my Avast Free.

Go to the following link:   http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/13608/
On the right side select your wanted version and then click "Download".

Good luck  :-\

There was no release version 8.0.1455, ever.  See http://www.avast.com/release-history (http://www.avast.com/release-history).  There may have been a beta version.

Make sure that you are downloading the Free version.  http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe)
Also download aswclear from the link provided at http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility).

Uninstall Avast from Windows and restart Windows in Safe Mode.  Follow the instructions at http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) for each version of Avast you have ever had installed.  When done with that, restart Windows in normal mode and install the Free version you have downloaded.

If you think that running a cracked version of Avast will offer you any protection, you are sadly mistaken.  Cracked software may be causing you problems right now.

So why did I get jumping notification with 8.0.1455 update available?
That was send from Avast server.Who send it? My Grandmother?
I don't use cracked antivirus software.I always used Avast free and
one year I used BitDefender.I did every step from your post and still
every problem I had 2 days ago happened again today.
I am serious about cracking Pro version if it will be forced upon me.

Avast is not forcing the paid version upon you just follow the instructions I gave in previous reply and you will have the free version 8.

Whatever problem you are receiving isn't going to differ by using the Pro version and threatening to use a cracked license isn't going to help your cause either as avast automatically detects cracked licenses and then you'll be in even more of a pickle.

I'd suggest you follow the instructions placed out for you by Gopher John.

I guess English is your first language(it is not mine) and you saw all posts.I don't understand your
post. How can I be unprotected with Trial reset?Tested by many and working.
All I want is Avast Free I used for years and this new practice by Avast is shameful.
I don't need answers from members of Avast cult but from persons responsible for
this debacle.

@abruptum

If you are using ANY cracked software, your machine is likely infected.  It could be interfering with your attempts to install a proper version of Avast.

My machine is not infected.Proper version of avast free was installed.Avast forced Pro version
upon me and changed my Avast Free to Pro Trial.Post from Indian didn't help.I never had any
problem with previous versions. This version 8 debacle is horrible. Please read all previous posts before
posting new ones.

Avast must NOT force you to install pro version this time and it has never done that see to it while you register the free version you only go with the free option and you need to read carefully sometimes  ;D

@abruptum

IOBits can and has caused problems before with Avast installs.

Since English is not your first language, you may use other Avast forums located at http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=21.0 (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=21.0) if you find one that you understand better.  The instructions you have received have worked well for others to resolve the same issue you are having.  Of course, one has to fully understand and follow the instructions.  There must be no other antivirus program installed on the machine or it will definitely cause problems.  Disabling the other antivirus is not enough.

I have iObit Uninstaller (portable).MBAM on demand,Windows Defender on demand,Trojan Remover on demand,
SpywareBlaster,ABP in all browsers,AdFender for IE10.My Windows 7 SP1 was installed 2 months ago.Only antivirus
with real time protection was Avast.First it was version 7 updated to 8 something and then to version 8.0.1483
and all of this started. There were 2 clean installs of latest version.Last week I also updated SafeIP free if that
matters.

BTW I don't have any problems with how Avast is working. It is working great and it is very
light on my system.Only issues are with Software updater doesn't recognizing Firefox 19.0.2
and saying that latest version for IE10 is IE9.

Remove all traces of IOBit, and disable Windows Defender http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/turn-windows-defender-on-or-off (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/turn-windows-defender-on-or-off).  I've disabled Windows Defender and haven't missed it at all.

I use MBAM on demand, SpywareBlaster, and ABP in Firefox without any issues.  They are well behaved.  I have no experience with the others, but I would think that AdFender wouldn't be a problem.

Same issue here with Firefox 19.0.2.  I haven't yet updated to IE10.  Supposedly, it will be among the WindowsUpdate offerings tomorrow for Win7.
