I'm running Avast! 8 Free on Windows 7 64-bit. It's working fine, but has just popped up to say I have 26 days left to re-register. Fair enough, but when I click the Register Now button in Maintenance/Registration, I get a popup saying 'Retrieving Information, please wait', and the hourglass circle circles for a bit and then.... nothing.
Why, and how do I fix this?
A Google search shows this to be a perennial problem from Avast! 5 onwards, but there are no live links I can find that lead to a solution.
I've started the Offline Registration process, but this is unsatisfactory for me, as email goes to a different computer here.
And besides, the proper procedure should work - shouldn't it?

Completely the same story. Win 7 64 bit, can't register Avast! 8 Free online. Offline registration worked fiie, but still problem had to be fixed.
