Title: Avast Flagging Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.146
Post by: loukingjr on March 20, 2013, 12:31:57 AM
for whatever reason Avast is flagging the latest Adobe Flash Player as a virus and moving it to the Virus Chest. This is the latest issue I've had with Avast so at this point I've uninstalled it.

hmmm, I may have spoke too soon. I reinstalled Avast and what the threat is suppose to be is Win32-Agent-AALN (Trj) but  it also says it's FlashPlayer 10.6

Interesting -- this detection was released 07/21/2008.
Can you provide the link from which was the flash player downloaded?

Thanks for the link. We tried to download it and nothing is detected there. Can you post screenshot of detection (avast!'s alert window), please?

did you actually try and install it and go to a flash site? for example youtube? or for that matter read any of the comments on MacUpdate? I'm certainly not the only one that had the problem.

I don't mean to sound terse but I have already had to uninstall the beta version of flash, reinstall the stable version, uninstall Avast, reinstall Avast and now you are asking for a screenshot which means I would have to re-reinstall the beta of flash. can't anyone at Avast test it?

thanks.

1. You should download flash directly from adobe's site. That's really the only way you have to guarantee you are getting an unadulterated version of it.
2. 11.7.x is still in beta, the latest stable version is 11.6.x

someone at MacUpdate already tried that and had the same problem.

I was expecting some sort of outcry, it's just one user reporting the problem in the macupdate thread.

And it's kind of weird no one else is reporting this here, I can't speak for myself as I use Chrome and don't have flash installed separately except the one bundled with Chrome. But I would expect a lot of people having the same issue.

actually I reported it also although my post seems to be gone. I don't know how many people both test beta versions of flash and run Avast.  I attached a scre
edit: my bad. I reported it under the Avast page on MacUpdate and not under the Adobe Flash page.

nope, I didn't say that at all. It's fine as was the previous beta.
