Title: Irregular process crash (certutil)
Post by: Uh_Clem on April 06, 2013, 08:54:07 PM
Following a system hang, I was looking through the console messages and noticed that there are 20 User Diagnostic Reports in the past two days pointing to a crash of the process 'certutil' in path /Users/myusername/Library/Application Support/Avast/nss/certutil.

The specific error Dyld error message is "Symbol not found: _SECKEY_RSAPSSParamsTemplate".

I don't know if this had anything to do with the system hang (which has occurred only this one time in the past two days) but it looks like a problem.

Anyone know anything about this?

certutil is a utility we use to import the webshield/mailshield SSL certificate into Firefox/Thunderbird.
It is part of mozilla nss (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/ (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/)), it is not developed at
avast! In any case, it is nearby impossible that this utility would cause a system hang. Anyway, could you
please post here one of the crash logs? Thanks.
