Title: Avast detected itself?
Post by: zellmer on April 10, 2013, 09:31:19 PM
I'm really not sure what I should do with this.

I hit update right before I did a full scan.

its not a detection, but scan error.....files not found i guess.....your pic does not show?.....i cant see what it say at right side

if so avast just did a clean up in the def (signature) folder just before you scanned.....
if you reboot and scan again it should be gone

files that can not be scanned for whatever reason given by avast is just that, it does not mean they are infected

files that can not be scanned is the most frequently asked question in the forum so plenty info if you forum search

Well, was nothing else to show other then the avast interface that couldn't be selected because of that warning, ignored it then, thanks.  Wasn't sure with all the "avast stopped working" threads.

I get the same thing after every version update of Avast 8. When running a scan for the first time I always get a list of files that can't be scanned. They are usually Avast files. Also after every Microsoft update on Tuesdays I get the same thing. The first time I scan after an update of Windows 7 on Microsoft Tuesdays I get a list of Microsoft update files that couldn't be scanned. It's an annoying problem introduced with version 8. Wish it could be turned off.

files that can not be scanned happens to all AV all the time, there will always be some files that can not be scanned for whatever reasons

but not all AV show it in the log, som need to activate advanced logging or it is hidden away in the log somwhere

i dont see it as a problem....it is just a scan error report, but yes avast could change the way the log is displayed, feks have to tabs, one for detections and one for scan errors
