When avast tries to update after I boot my pc, it brings it to a crawl. How do I tell avast not to do the first update until 10 minutes after I start my pc?

To delay the update of avast into a permanent internet connection (DSL), just change (or add) AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds value into the [InetWD] section of avast5.ini file.
You could set the number of seconds to wait before attempting to update. The default is 30 but it may not be enough in some DSL systems. In this case, you can try increasing this e.g. to 60 (1 minute). That should be enough.

Thanks Tech.

Mmm...i haven`t that avast5.ini file and i want to change it too. And i want that avast updates once a day.

Check in C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5.
-
It may also be in:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\avast5.ini
It all depends on your OS and how you installed and updated avast!

Okay,
I have found the avast5 file under programdata but what is written here isn`t in that file.
So i have added it.
When i have rebooted i will revert back if it works for me.
Thanks
