Title: Adware
Post by: acabuzzy on May 14, 2013, 10:26:58 PM
Does Avast detect/protect against adware? I'm using a Microsoft partner WinZip Registry Optimizer. Whenever I open it up, I get a pop up script error. I called the support number and was told that my computer was corrupted. They did a scan and said I had over 2800 adware errors that were corrupting my system and would eventually crash my computer. They told me they would "fix" and protect my computer for up to $600.00. I declined. I scan my system with Avast every week and use Malware Bytes to check for malware. Am I missing some important protection. Or were they just upselling me? :(

Yeah ... If you wish, I can see what is on your computer and fix if it needs to for free.

Download DDS and save it to your Desktop from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Double click dds to run the tool.

    * When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
        1. DDS.txt
        2. Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. DDS.txt and Attach.txt attach back to topic.
