Title: conflict with DSL modem
Post by: DragonChan on March 31, 2005, 04:46:32 PM
I'm using a Speedstream 5100 DSL modem, I believe the connection to the modem is conflicting with avast4. When I need to connect to my modem, I need to disable avast else the connection to the modem will fail.

I connect to the address 192.168.254.254 to configure my modem. I suspect the TCP or UDP port connecting to the modem should be prime suspect.

Can you help me with this?

Anyway, Avast is great, except that probably you need to elaborate more on the configuration of the program else a lot of important feature cannot work, I had to dig these information myself!

Thanks

Do you use a local proxy?

Is avast allowed to connect the Internet into your firewall settings? The following programs should be allowed to connect:
ashServ.exe (avast! antivirus service)
ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner)
ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service)
ashUpdSv.exe (avast! Update Service)
avast.setup (avast! Update executable)

Which is your firewall and operational system?
